I love the word Nigh. Not sure where it came from or where it went, but it’s a great word. I think it means something along the lines of “almost” or “about to be”. Speaking of almost, and the reason for this post in the first place, is that the Expansion Rules for The Mutant Epoch are soon going to finally be released! I’m super psyched! I don’t know exactly when, but it should be soon.
The creator of TME, Will McAusland, suffered an eye injury which has really put them behind schedule, but he’s still hard at work and still releasing preliminary art for the Expansion on the Mutant Epoch website. If you’re into Post-Apocalyptic RPG’s as much as I am, and you haven’t already been there, you should really check it out.
I’m excited for the Expansion mostly because it finally includes mutated plants as player character types. In the original Gamma World, mutated plants were, for some reason, my favorite type to play. Not every edition of GW had them, but those that did were great.
When Mutant Epoch first released, I was admittedly a little disappointed that there were no plants since there were so many different types of characters. However, I found out later that Mr. McAusland was actually conferring with a botanist to try to get these new types done, if not realistically, at least plausibly. So good on him, right?
Plants aren’t all, either. There are going to be a lot of new player types, like the gross Parasites, artificial intelligences, abominations (and you thought the Mutant Freak was bad), Mutant-Cyborg mixes, and a lot more. New mutations, new cyborg attachments, new equipment, and a ton of other new content.
If you’ve got a minute, drop by http://www.outlandarts.com/mutantepoch.htm and check it out. I swear on my Players Handbook you won’t be disappointed.
And while you’re at it, if you don’t mind, could you please take a moment to drop me a comment on this blog? Just a word or two on whether you like what I’m doing, or suggestions on what to improve? Thanks!
